It was a nice day Sunday, sunny and warm without too much wind. After I got done with class, we headed over to Subway for a healthy lunch. Afterwards – since we were already in a healthy frame of mind – we decided to go to the park. Belvidere opened a big park last year with a number of soccer fields and a paved path that covers more than a mile. Daniel had his bike and he quickly lapped Meka and me as we walked and talked together.
Like the Walrus and the Carpenter, we spoke of many things. We went through a number of parts of Meka’s upcoming speech in one of her classes. We talked about TV shows we remembered as kids. Daniel lapped us again. I believe we were talking about music at that moment. Either that or the difference between good teachers and bad ones.
It doesn’t happen often that mind and body converge like that. We wrapped up with legs twitching and brains spinning. We covered every topic from psychology to history to science and walked more than three miles.
Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
